Welcome to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College! Whether you are considering NEO among your post-secondary options or have already made the decision to enroll, you will find that NEO is an extraordinary place to learn. With on-campus housing, NEO is the largest two-year residential college in the state of Oklahoma. Learning is extended beyond the boundaries of the classroom with dozens of clubs and organizations pertaining to our 44 degree programs. These characteristics allow our students to enjoy the benefits of a university experience within the comfort of a small college setting.

Vital to our campus are the faculty. Our instructors pride themselves on offering one-on-one assistance to their students. Simply stated, they want students to succeed, and they take the time to make that happen. No NEO student is a nameless individual. Our 1:24 faculty/ student ratio promises that students are part of a classroom, not lost in a crowd. No other two-year college in the state of Oklahoma has a higher percentage of full-time faculty per student than NEO. Among those faculty is Roger Fent, agriculture instructor, who was named the 2009 Educator of the Year by the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce. Barbara George, chair of the Fine Arts Department, has appeared in movies on the big and small screen. Jim Grover, chair of the Technology Department, has dedicated 42 years to educating NEO students. These individuals are only a sampling of those who guide the college’s highly regarded academic programs. From our Agriculture Department, known for its outstanding practical training in farm and ranch management, agriculture, natural resource ecology management and pre-veterinary science, to our award-winning Theatre Program that produces plays straight from Broadway, the educational experience of all NEO students is molded by experts in their field.

Our facilities are just as impressive. The College’s 200-acre farm provides a hands-on education in the care and management of livestock, field crops and soil. The NEO Arena offers a practice facility for the Equine Judging Team, which has captured a national title each year since 2003; the Rodeo Team, which draws students from 20 states across the country; and the Livestock Judging Team, which boasts of influential alumni in the livestock industry, including Jarold Callahan, president of Express Ranches in Yukon, Okla. Commons Hall, one of the campus’ original buildings, was recently renovated to house our Music Department. It is now equipped with ample classroom space and practice rooms and also features a 120-seat auditorium. The Health Sciences Building has undergone construction to provide more classroom and skills-lab space for the Nursing Program. The program now offers a state-of-the-art mannequin that simulates life-like scenarios, which better prepares students for an environment in health-care. During the summer of 2009, NEO will begin yet another construction project with the addition of a new Science Building. This 13,600-square-foot facility will be equipped with laboratories for chemistry, microbiology and medical lab technician courses, as well as a computer lab.

NEO has a rich tradition of athletics, including football, softball, baseball, volleyball, men’s and women’sbasketball and men’s and women’ssoccer. Part of that tradition are the 250 Golden Norse Football players who have been named All American and the more than 50 Norse Football alumni who have played in the National Football League. The men’s basketball team earned the honor of NJCAA Region II champions in 2008, as well as the Bi-State East Conference champions in 2007. NEO’s softball team has played in the NJCAA National Tournament for two consecutive years, taking home a fourth-place trophy in 2007. The NEO volleyball team finished third in the region during the 2007 season. All of these accomplishments have added to the pride that is accompanied by a Golden Norse jersey.

NEO has ensured that success is possible for students from all backgrounds. Non-traditional students will find that returning to college at NEO to pursue a new career is not intimidating. Assistance is available step-by-step through the admission and enrollment process. NEO features Student Support Services, which provides tutoring, supplemental instruction classes, career exploration, financial and personal counseling and workshops on study skills and job interview techniques. Labs and tutoring for core classes, including mathematics, English and reading, help to further student achievement. NEO’s Fast-Track LPN-to-RN Program is designed for the non-traditional student through an on-line course load. This one-year program enables those who must still work to simultaneously receive a college diploma. In addition, all of the college’s core general education requirements can be met through on-line instruction.

Lastly, at NEO we have students who are proud of their decision to become a Norseman. In only two years, NEO enables its students to obtain a degree that will place them on the career-path of their choice. Whether transferring to a four-year university or entering into the work force, NEO students are prepared for what is ahead.

To begin your NEO experience today, contact our Student Recruitment Office at (918) 540-6291. I hope that you are soon part of the tradition that is NEO.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeff Hale
